Google UK is the British arm of the global technology giant, known for its search engine, productivity tools, and expansive influence on the internet economy. The company frequently leads internal and external initiatives that champion inclusion, creativity, and culture across its workforce and wider ecosystem.

Google UK commissioned us to curate and produce their 2022 Black History Month closing event under the theme All Shades of Black: a celebration of the diversity, creativity, and global resilience of Black communities. The event was designed specifically for internal Googlers, with the aim of delivering a powerful cultural moment that went beyond performance, sparking conversation, connection, and inspiration. The challenge was to curate an experience that honoured the depth of Black creativity across multiple mediums, while seamlessly managing logistics, talent, and production at a corporate scale.

We led on the end-to-end creative production of the event, curating a multi-sensory experience that brought the All Shades of Black theme to life. We sourced visual artwork through a custom e-commerce curation process, spotlighting both emerging and established Black artists whose work reflected themes of identity, resilience, and beauty. We coordinated all artist and panelist bookings, working closely with Google’s internal DEI and events teams to align the creative vision with their company values. Musical performances by Stonebwoy, Adekunle Gold, Shae Universe, and BOJ created powerful moments of connection, while panel discussions featuring Johnson Gold, Blair Clarke, Stephanie Uzuo, and fostered insight and reflection. From art direction and spatial curation to talent management and event flow, our goal was to create an experience that was as meaningful as it was memorable.

The result was a standout internal event that left a lasting impression on Googlers and collaborators alike. All Shades of Black was praised for its depth, polish, and cultural resonance, celebrating the richness of Black identity beyond tokenism. Our curation and creative production elevated the experience from a typical corporate event to a powerful celebration of global Black excellence. The project not only deepened our relationship with Google, but also reinforced our reputation as a trusted creative partner for meaningful, high-calibre cultural events.
